5th Grade Essay Awards
Every spring the creative fifth graders at Star Elementary School write an essay that will not only be read by their teacher, but also by a committee of Star Lions. We find such joy in reading these essays every year, along with attending one of their award ceremonies, where we award the top three writers with cash prizes!

Supporting Star Lions Means Supporting Your Elementary School Teachers
Are you a teacher at Star Elementary School? Could you use a little extra funds to support a project with additional material to assist with participation in class? Star Lions would like to help, which is why we donate $300 a month (during every school year) to a teacher at Star Elementary School.
How does it work?
- Submit your reason for needing the Star Teacher's Grant below
- Star Lion members will review all applicants and chose one for that month
- Once we have chosen a teacher, then we will inform the school.
- We will deliver a large check for pictures and a small check to deposit
We do receive an abundance of applications, which makes this process a bit of a challenge. So we encourage you to re-apply if you were not chosen.

When is the deadline to submit an application?
Applications submitted by the end of every month will be reviewed at our next monthly meeting.
What if I miss the deadline?
If you miss the deadline for our monthly meeting then we will review it at the following meeting.
What if I am not chosen?
Not a problem, you may submit the next month!
